On Saturday 3rd of May our u12 1/2 teams travelled to compete in the Frankie murphy tournament in Colmcille Longford . Looking to defend the title we won last year we knew was going to be tough and so it proved.16 good teams fighting for the trophy. Our younger team played some tough games against mullahoran , st Colmcille and st Barry’s of Roscommon . They fought for every ball and were unlucky to lose there plate semi final by 2 points . Our older team had good wins in the group against Drumlish,Dromard and Fenagh which put them through to the cup semi final v st Barry’s of Roscommon which proved very tough getting through it by 3 points . Up next was the final against Athenry of Galway and what a game it turned out to be . End to end two footballing teams going toe to toe . Up by 4 at half time the cup looked like it was heading to killinkere but to there credit like all good teams Athenry came storming back to lead by 3 with 5 mins to go . Our boys showing there experience dug deep and caught fire at the right time to come out with a one point win .A big thank you to st Colmcille for running a brilliant tournament so well .
